and already it's March!!

March is almost here and we are starting to settle into our 2021 year. We are just around the corner from our first performance of the year and celebrating the fact that we can be in our beautiful theatre. We are also celebrating The Australian Ballet's first performance in over 12 months even though it will not be in Melbourne's State Theatre which is still closed. David Hallberg, the new Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, will present his first production 'Summer Series' in the Tennis Arena in Melbourne with a limited audience and it will be live streamed around the world. It is hard to believe that we had such a busy time in our Theatre in the latter part of 2020 when theatres around the world were closed.

Rehearsals for this fabulous ballet are keeping everybody very busy. The dancers are finding the very intricate dance steps, props, ribbons and other accessories a daily challenge. We have had a few bloopers along the way with dancers learning to throw and catch a flute, make a spinning wheel turn the right way or have 16 Maypole ribbons tangle themselves.

'La Fille mal Gardée' the ballet with the most difficult name to say, very tricky when buying tickets. A ticket to 'The Ballet' or Duprada will bring you success.

Make a date to join us on the 19th & 20th of March at 6.30pm to watch this fabulous ballet with two of our men playing the part of 'Simone' the famous widow who has a 'wayward daughter' know as 'Lise' - an arranged marriage? - NO! Not for Lise.
