Paris Opera Ballet

On occasions my working week can be amazing with a few 'pinch me moments' thrown in for good measure. Last week work took me to Singapore's Esplanade Theatre to see the Paris Opera Ballet Company's 'Da:ns Series', a Tripple Bill featuring three world renowned choreographers. The performance was amazing receiving a standing ovation from an enthusiastic audience - a full-house of 2000. I travelled with Leisa Jackson our Darwin Director and Tiffanie Hughes who you will know as one of our Principal Dancers who also teaches in our ballet school. Our First Open Week - Level 7's

It is an absolute pleasure having parents and friends come into the studios and watch their young dancers at work. Dance is fun and seen as a recreation by those who watch, however dancers themselves view classes very differently. Dancers take their learning and training very seriously and as they progress through the levels dance becomes more demanding and the dancers are given more detailed work and they challenge themselves more and more. Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles and Classical Ballet demands strength at length, flexibility and purity of alignment which requires daily training. A Dancers Day!!

Professional Studies brings a full interesting and deceiving day. Tomorrow is double 'TT' day (Technical Thursday). Pilates and conditioning begins the day at 9.00am with a snack before their 10.30am two hour Classical Ballet Technical Class which pushes the dancers technical capabilities, builds strength and refines their technique. A Snack before Pas de deux for 90 minutes extending their strength and flexibility while developing the dancers artistry and fineness. 2.00pm Lunch at last - eaten during an Anatomy/Production/Teaching Methodology. Down Time at 3.00pm until teaching a class at either 4.00pm or 5pm. A Snack before the last session of the day. 6.00pm Company Class and rehearsal

An Amazing High Tea

A big thank you for a wonderful 'Busy Bee High Tea' on every level. Thank you - to the Ballet Company dancers who came into to set up, donated a wonderful plate of food, waited on tables and cleaned up afterwards.
